Hand Sanitizers are of vital importance before and after any activity involving the risk of exposure to microscopic pathogens, such as handling currency, opening doors, operating a telephone or keyboard and changing personal protective equipment.

Founded in 2008, KOVAL Distillery creates a line of organic & kosher whiskey, gin, and specialty spirits using unique grains, signature "heart cut" techniques, and only the absolute best quality distillate. Founders Dr. Sonat Birnecker Hart and Dr. Robert Birnecker chose to leave their careers (she as an Associate Professor of Jewish Studies at Baltimore Hebrew University, and he the Deputy Press Secretary for the Austrian Embassy in Washington, DC) to found a company guided by both respect for the distilling traditions of Robert's heritage, and also by Jewish values -- from aligning the rhythm of their business with the Jewish calendar to practicing Tzedakah within their organization and community.

In light of the COVID-19 health crisis, the two have led KOVAL's transition into producing much-needed hand sanitizer for those on the front lines, including medical organizations, first responders, and community non-profits. Sonat is also involved in a number of philanthropic organizations and serves as President of the Diplomatic Corps of the World Jewish Congress. Both were recently appointed Illinois Business Persons of the Year by the National Small Business Association.
